Overview
Creating a Safe and Personalized Space to Practice English
FluentAI is an AI-powered English learning platform designed for learners who understand grammar and vocabulary but struggle to speak confidently in real-life situations. The product combines personalized learning paths, live AI conversation practice, instant language feedback, and visible progress tracking across mobile and web.
At the centre of the experience is Flin, an adaptive AI language coach that simulates natural conversation without judgment. Flin adjusts speaking pace, vocabulary complexity, tone, and practice context according to the learner's proficiency, goals, and daily performance.
The experience needed to support first-time learners, returning users, individual practice goals, real-world speaking scenarios, and enterprise partner requirements without making the product feel technical or intimidating. Every interaction had to encourage learners to speak, recover from mistakes, and return consistently.
ATM Labs led the end-to-end UI/UX design of FluentAI, shaping the onboarding experience, adaptive learning flow, AI conversation interface, feedback system, progress dashboard, reusable components, and responsive product experience.

The Challenge
Turning Language Knowledge into Confident Real-World Speech
Many English learners understand vocabulary and grammar but hesitate when they need to speak. Traditional learning products often prioritize memorization and linear lessons while providing limited opportunities for realistic conversation practice.
Speaking practice also involves emotional barriers. Learners may fear judgment, avoid making mistakes, or receive feedback too late to correct their habits. Human coaching can be effective, but cost and availability make consistent one-to-one practice difficult for many users.
The central challenge was to create an experience that felt intelligent without becoming complicated, corrective without feeling discouraging, and structured without becoming rigid. The product needed to personalize learning while keeping the learner in control.

Results were derived from comparative journey analysis, internal prototype evaluation, and design-system coverage assessment conducted during the design process.
